Luis Eric González
Luis Eric Gonzalez is a trumpeter, vocalist, composer, arranger, and producer, born in Matanzas, Cuba. With a career spanning classical training and performances with top Cuban bands, he has become known for his emotionally nuanced Cool Jazz style and his work in Latin Pop, Salsa, R&B, and more. Now based in the U.S., he leads Azulu Music Productions and the Havana Secret Band, bringing soul, sophistication, and passion to every note.
Luis Eric Gonzalez (Two-Time Grammy Award Winner) Luis Eric Gonzalez, a two-time Grammy Award-winning trumpeter, composer, arranger, vocalist, and producer, was born in Matanzas, Cuba. He began playing the trumpet at the age of seven and later graduated from the prestigious Institute of Arts in Havana, where he received several years of formal classical training. In Cuba, Luis performed and recorded not only with the nation’s top popular bands but also for operas, ballets, radio, and documentary films.
Since moving to the United States in 1997, Luis has built a distinguished international
career as both a performer and musical director. He served as musical director for
the legendary Celia Cruz (The Queen of Salsa) and has toured, recorded, and
performed with some of the world’s most celebrated artists, including Don Henley,
Gloria Estefan, Raul Malo, Lou Bega, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tito Nieves, Eric Benét, Carl
Thomas, Son by Four, Juan Gabriel, Armando Manzanero, Joan Sebastian, Jill Scott,
Angélique Kidjo, and Andy García.
In recent years, Luis performed in the 2024 U.S.A. Tour with Mon Laferte, recorded for the new Earth, Wind & Fire album, collaborated on a new studio album with KUN (China), and is currently performing as trumpet player for the legendary band Rose Royce. He continues to tour and perform with the Jamie Foxx Band, Gloria Trevi (Latin Pop Star), and Jane Chang (Chinese Pop Star).
Beyond his impressive performance career, Luis is a seasoned composer, arranger, and producer. He founded his own production company, Azulu Music Productions, Inc., through which he has composed and arranged in a wide range of styles including Latin Pop, Jazz, Salsa, R&B, Classical, and Rock. His arrangements for Raul Malo, Lou Bega, and Eliades Ochoa (Buena Vista Social Club, Grammy Winner) have received international recognition. He has also produced commercial music for brands such as Carl’s Jr., Nissan, Health Net, and One Children Foundation, and his compositions have been featured in major motion pictures including The Hot Chick and Original Sin.
Luis’s ongoing mission through Azulu Music Productions is to expand his creative reach, collaborate globally, and continue bringing soul, sophistication, and passion to every performance and project he undertakes.
